The Independent Womxn Experience Series: Focus on Your Own Race with Health & Success Coach Kelly Travis Ep.39

Meet Kelly Travis, a health and success coach who helps ambitious and high-achieving people prioritize their health and well-being so they can reach new levels in their business and in their life.  As a result, they take massive action and create positive change in every area of their life.

Officially, Kelly is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where she earned her certification as a Holistic Health Coach a certified Precision Nutrition coach and Enneagram coach. Her passion for health and wellbeing started in college, where she was a collegiate All-American runner at UNC-Charlotte, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health with an emphasis on mental health from Central Michigan University.

Kelly's collegiate running career was driven by perfectionism and obsession, a combination that forced her to drop out of college and lose her identity.  After having two children in an unhappy marriage, Kelly started to do the work necessary for change and circled back to her roots in health.  After committing to the long haul, Kelly began to build atmospheres of trust between women, utilizing her blog to connect and inspire.  Tune in to hear how she found her tribe of women that helped her empower herself and the clients she works with.

Kelly's Takeaways

  • What you can provide to your listeners based on your journey will be beneficial.

  • We can be successful and we don't have to kill ourselves along the way.

  • When we slow down, we can truly ask ourselves "am I doing what I want to be doing?"

  • When we think we might not be happy, it requires us to think of change, and the brain doesn't like that!

  • If one thing is throwing us off, it can mess with everything else.

  • Success doesn't occur all at once.

  • Women need to stop tearing each other down and start building each other up.

  • There is a power in being vulnerable.

  • Create a safe space for women who are going to resonate with each other and build their tribe.

  • We need people to question us in a healthy way.

  • Your progress has NOTHING to do with someone else's progress.

  • You can allow yourself to support others and still be successful.

  • We have to focus on our own race.
